The Opry Heritage Foundation of Oklahoma: Supporting Five Programs

Rodeo Opry KidPic1

Oklahoma’s “Official Country Music Show” is celebrating its 35th year of providing spectacular live weekly entertainment. Located in the Rodeo Opry Theater in the heart of the historic stockyards district near downtown Oklahoma City, Saturday night performances feature new talent from around the state, veterans of the Opry stage, and Opry stars who have come home to perform.

Granville Community Music School

Named after Opry founder, Granville (Grant) Leftwich, the Granville Community Music School provides quality music instruction to talented children from low income families for the nominal fee of 50 cents per lesson. Granville is modeled after Nashville’s long running, highly successful W. O. Smith Community Music School.

Oklahoma Heritage Concert Series

Students from around the state watch Oklahoma history come to life on the Rodeo Opry stage through an interactive program teaching the history, music and culture of our great state. This educational music experience takes participants through the trials and triumphs of Oklahoma including Native American heritage, the Dust Bowl, state symbols and famous Oklahomans.

Artist Development Series

Designed to develop and enhance promising performers in the areas of stage presence and vocal production, the Rising Star Roundup workshops are offered for performers up to age sixteen. Kick Start Clinics are for artists sixteen and older. Apprenticeship programs also provide promising musicians and technicians in our community the opportunity to work with veteran industry professionals.

Writers From the Row Series

Personalized workshops and intimate performances provide local songwriters with the opportunity to work and perform with top industry professionals. Over the years, participants have benefited from instruction and interaction with hit songwriters for artists such as Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, John Michael Montgomery, Diamond Rio, Bryan White, and many, many others.
